TYPICAL INDIAN IRONIES
THE TYPICAL INDIAN IRONIES
India always tries to keep her unique style in most of the things. Sometimes
India turns to be the epitome in many matters to many great powers of the
world. Indian wedding, Indian food, Indian dressing, Indian culture...etc. are
famous around the globe. Similarly, there exists another Indian thing in this
society about which everyone wants to speak but all sweep it under the rug
every time. It is nothing but some ironies, some typical Indian ironies…..
‘Beti Bachao, Beti padhao’the slogan that ripples at
each nook and corner of today’s India-But India is one of the countries
where marital rape is not at all illegal. Also in India, the rape cases increase in
leaps and bounds day by day and the supreme most punishment the rapists
gets is the life sentence….If the total rape-murder cases in India is one lakh,
the number of rapists who got hanged will be ten.
India ranks fourth in female foeticide-The irony
behind it is that it’s a woman who compels another woman to abort her
daughter in the womb.
India leaps into development day by day with great
mansion-like buildings built by the homeless poor and with many flyovers
having a lot of struggling lives under it.
India’s pride that matters a lot during international
events and cricket matches-But not when a tourists get harassed or raped.
According to the Indian constitution, India is a secular country- but caste certificates and reservation lists are still popular in our country. Mark
twain once stated that India is the cradle of the human race and birthplace of
human speech, if it is as he said, then why many protests in India gets ignored
and unanswered?
Lord Krishna along with Radha can be worshipped here but still talking to a boy or having a boyfriend is against our precious cultures
which remain to be unchecked for decades now.
Youths are the soul of India-But the protesting
youth at times gets brutally suppressed.
The most sarcastic irony existing here is that when the half
of India runs for weight loss the other half runs for a meal.
Annie Besant’s opinion is that India is a country where every
religion finds a home-But today the same Indians are on the verge of another
war in the name of these religions.
These are only a few in the long list….
Still many more ironies
whirls around in this society.
This is the 21st century….If a healthy change for a healthy
and prosperous country is not possible now, then when it can be expected?
‘If not now, then when? If not you then who?’
This is the time to think. The time to change….
